The Student Equity in Higher Education Evaluation Framework (SEHEEF) and its relevance in the context of the Australian Universities Accord
Despite substantial investment, evaluating HEPPP’s effectiveness remains challenging, with a 2017 evaluation unable to reach definitive conclusions due to inconsistent data. In response, the Student Equity in Higher Education Evaluation Framework (SEHEEF) was developed to provide a robust tool for measuring the impact of equity initiatives. This paper outlines SEHEEF’s key elements, its potential to build stronger evidence for equity programs at the university and national level, and its key implementation challenges.
CRADLE Seminar Series: A house of cards? Equity-group students’ experiences of university
In this seminar, CRADLE researchers Dr Joanna Tai, Dr Nicole Crawford and Professor Rola Ajjawi offer an overview of findings from a qualitative longitudinal study investigating undergraduate equity-group students’ day-to-day experiences in negotiating their life, work and learning at Deakin University. Thirty-five students took part in a series of four interviews from June 2023 to July 2024, resulting in a total of 123 in-depth interviews.
Phase 1: Implementation of the Student Equity in Higher Education Evaluation Framework: Sector Consultation Report
This report details the findings from two rounds of consultation with the sector for the NCSEHE (now ACSES)-funded project Phase 1: Implementation of the Student Equity in Higher Education Evaluation Framework (SEHEEF). The main aim of this project was to inform NCSEHE (now ACSES) of the training, information, and communication needs of the sector in order to support the sector with the implementation of the SEHEEF.
SEHEEF Impact Evaluation Prioritisation Tool
The Impact Evaluation Prioritisation Tool helps allocate resources efficiently. At the national level, substantial resources and expertise are required for Department-led evaluation activities, as well as for establishing and managing governance arrangements between universities and the government.
